Grief is like a shipwreck with gigantic waves that crash over you while you hang on to pieces of the wreckage, knowing you are anchored to Christ and you will live, even though you think you will not. Overtime waves are not quite as high or quite as frequent but they come and come when you are not expecting them – ‘grief attacks’! Or you see them coming like holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and you prepare knowing it may crash over you, so you hang on to your anchor and you know you will survive. Life is for the living, so we live. More and more, slowly as time passes. A death or any painful loss leaves scars. Deep love, deep scars. As believers our comfort is that we will see them again and until then we have A Comforter.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort others in their troubles.
